Bryan Do

Founder

Our founder Bryan Do has traveled the unusual path from being TV News Anchor, Quiz Show Host, PR Account supervisor at Edelman, and an executive at Microsoft before going into the alcohol field through brewing beer.

He took his hobby of brewing beer and quit his job at Microsoft as the head of the Office consumer division and turned his passion into a business as one of the first pioneers of craft beer in Korea in 2014 through his brand The Hand and Malt Brewing Company.

His ultimate vision is changing drinking culture in Korea by having locals drink quality products in any situation and circumstance. To reach this vision he led the team through constant innovation in beer with quality products and explosive growth. This success was seen by the world’s largest beer company and eventually merged with AB-InBev in 2018 just four years after the founding of his company.

Naturally, he turned his entrepreneurial spirit to another passion single malt whisky. After years of preparation and finding the right team he started Three Societies Distillery to produce world class whisky from Korea.

Andrew Shand

Master Distiller

In May 2020 Andrew celebrated 40 years in the whisky industry.

Andrew started work in 1980 at the Glenlivet Distillery in the cooperage. Then he worked in all the Chivas Distilleries moving up through the ranks while learning the art of distillation.

In 1991 he was asked to join the Nikka Distillery Company. During his time there Andrew was master distiller and worked with the Master blender to create many of the Nikka whiskies that are much sought after today.

In 2001 Andrew went to work at Speyside distillers as Master Distiller and Master Blender looking after and expanding their range of whisky while traveling around the world sharing his knowledge at whisky shows and whisky forums. When Speyside was sold in 2011, Andrew set up his own consultancy company and worked on projects all over the world.

Andrew designed and built Virginia Distillery at the time the largest distillery on the east coast of the United States as well as a malting facility for Copperfox distillery in Williamsburg VA. His passion for adventure led him to Korea to bring his expertise and tradition to a new local whisky audience.

Jun Seo

Distiller

After retiring as an Army officer, Jun was working as an engineer in Chilling & Heating Systems, he came across "Three Societies Distillery" by chance and joined the team because they needed his skills.

Assisting Master Distiller & Blender "Andrew Shand", Jun learned and developed knowledge of whisky making processes related to malting, cooperage, brewing, distillation and maturation. As a Korean, he worked with pride to be part of Korea's first and best single malt whisky distillery, having made the most spirits and handled the most oak barrels in the country.

All these efforts have led to the current establishment to become the most representative distiller in Korea. In the future, Jun hopes to keep working hard together with Andrew to continue making whisky, creating exceptionally innovative and diverse products with its own colors.
